Maytime! Maytime!

This is one of my favourite Maytime sights, cow-parsley frothing around beneath the trees and lining the pathways and roads.

You know that Spring is really under way and Summer is just around the corner. The Hawthorn trees are heavy with closely packed blossom  and they seem to weigh the branches down!

In the shady woodlands, the bluebells cover the ground and fill the air with their delicate scent. There are a few wood anemones flowering too.

Everything seems to be bursting into colour. What a wonderful time of year!

In the Park and in the woods.

This is called the field of Hope in Victoria Park. A wonderful sheet of yellow, reminding us that Summer's not too far away!

They are even better up close.

And later in the year the lovely Bluebells!

All we could hear when we walked through these  woods was the spring song of birds. So wonderfully peaceful and tranquil. Time out from a busy life.

The ferns are starting to unfurl. They will take over when the bluebells have gone.

More Spring Flowers

More Spring Flowers

My little garden has suddenly burst into bloom, with bluebells (mostly the Spanish kind that had been planted before we moved in) They are attractive and do have a perfume, but not as vibrant in colour as our lovely English variety

These are the English bluebells. I have also got some beautiful violets that have seeded themselves.

My Camellia has been stunning this year with lots of lovely blooms.

The clematis buds are getting fatter too, so the fence will soon be a glorious mass of pale pink. I can't wait!
